10 Essential Games to Add to Your Wedding Registry

We just got married last month, and some of the wedding gifts we’ve been enjoying most are… you guessed it. Games!

If you’re getting married and love a good game night, don’t forget to register for something fun. Here’s our starter list of tabletop games for your home collection. With a good mix of player ranges and both board and card games, you’ll have something for a group game night or a date night for two.

Note: You can register for most of these games on Amazon or at Target — or our register-for-anything favorite, Zola.

Codenames

Codenames

A slower-paced team game great for competitive players, Codenames was one of our most played games this past year. Draw comparisons among your team’s words to come up with the best one-word clues. The team that guesses all their words first wins. (2-8+ players, best with at least 6)

Ticket to Ride

Ticket to Ride

Probably Diana’s favorite board game, Ticket to Ride is a 2-5 player game where players rack up points by completing designated train routes on a map. Try Ticket to Ride Europe or other available region to play on your favorite map!

Galaxy Trucker

Galaxy Trucker

Build a better spaceship than your competitors in one of our new favorite date night games! Transport the most goods and earn the most money to succeed in Galaxy Trucker. End the game with any amount of cosmic credits to win, and win bigger by having the most. (2-4 players)

Settlers of Catan

Settlers of Catan

Collect and trade resources, build stuff, and get points as fast as you can in Catan. This game is best for a small group of friends; the first player to 10 points wins! Increase the 3-4 player limit to 5-6 by also purchasing the extension pack.

Exploding Kittens

Exploding Kittens

A funny and easy-to-learn card game by Oatmeal comic Matthew Inman, there’s only one mission in Exploding Kittens: don’t explode. Meet the likes of funny characters like Tacocat and Pig-a-corn in this 2-5 player game.

Apples to Apples

Apples to Apples

A simple card game for 4-8 players, Apples to Apples is great for groups that want to carry on a conversation while they play. Each person plays a card that makes a funny comparison to the judge’s card. Win the judge’s card if they choose your card, and collect the most to win the game.

Cards Against Humanity

Cards Against Humanity

A raunchy version of Apples to Apples, this card game goes great with beer or wine. Play with as few as 4 people, or over 20 with expansion decks. Think twice before inviting Grandma to join.

Pandemic

Pandemic

The first cooperative board game we’ve ever played, Pandemic is great when you’re not feeling competitive. 2-4 players must eradicate all the viruses before they spread. If they do, everybody wins!

Bananagrams

Bananagrams

A sort of portable version of scrabble, Bananagrams is a great game to pack for a trip. There’s room for up to 8 players; you can even play by yourself. Use all of your letters first to win!

One Night Ultimate Werewolf

One Night Ultimate Werewolf

There’s no need to read a long rule book in One Night Ultimate Werewolf. Download the app to walk you through the night’s events. Identify the werewolf correctly and the villagers win; if not, the werewolves are the victors. (3-10 players)
